Where do I get Adobe Reader to view and print PDF files?
-- Adobe Reader is free. You can download it from: http://www.adobe.com/ -- Select the Get Adobe Reader icon
-- Under Also Download, uncheck the boxes to download Adobe Yahoo! Toolbar, and Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition. You can select Learn More to find out more about these options, and leave the boxes checked to include them if you choose, but they are not required to run Adobe Reader.
-- Click the Download button
-- Save the .exe file to a place you will remember on your computer
After my computer is finished downloading the software what do I do?
-- Go to where you saved the .exe file and double-click on the file. Adobe Reader will create its own library on your system.
I cant find the .exe file I downloaded from Adobe, OR I cant
find the PDF file e-mailed from Random Lengths.
The location of the file depends on your Internet software program settings, which
control where downloaded files and e-mail attachments are stored on your computer system.
Since these settings are different for each individual user, Random Lengths cannot tell
you where the file is located. Your own computer support staff, or the documentation and
technical support staff for the Internet software program you are using, should be able to
help you.
I cant seem to get Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on my computer.
What next?
-- For Adobe Reader help, go to http://www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html.
-- For general help, go to http://www.adobe.com/support/main.html, and choose the help option that you would like.
-- Additional information is also available on the Random Lengths PDF Tips and Tricks page on our web site at http://www.rlpi.com. Go to Internet & Fax Services, then Internet E-mail PDF, then Tips and Tricks.
-- Your own computer support staff might also be able to help, or contact your local computer support person. Random Lengths does not provide technical support for Adobe products.
Nothing happens when I click on the PDF icon in the e-mail from Random
Lengths.
1. Are you sure Adobe Reader is installed? Sometimes subscribers will download the
file from Adobe, but forget to double-click on the .exe file to actually install Reader.
You should be able to find and open Acrobat Reader on your system independent of your
e-mail software to be certain its installed correctly.
2. Some e-mail software packages, such as Netscape Navigator, do not open PDF files
from within the e-mail package. You must first save the file on your computer system, then
open Acrobat Reader, go to where you have saved the file, and open it directly. For
example, if you are using Netscape Navigator for e-mail, you would right-click on the PDF
icon, select SAVE AS, then select the place on your computer system you wish to save the
file.
3. The settings for your e-mail software may need to be changed so PDF attachments can
be opened directly when embedded in an e-mail. Your own computer support staff, or the
documentation and technical support staff for the Internet software program you are using,
should be able to help you.
I am having trouble opening and viewing the Random Lengths PDF file
in Acrobat Reader.

2. Make sure you are using Adobe Reader version 5.0 or higher. Earlier
versions of Reader may not read the PDF file properly.
I can open and view the PDF file in Acrobat Reader just fine, but
I have problems printing it.
1. This problem can usually be solved by contacting the company that made your printer,
and finding out how to download and install an updated printer driver. Printer drivers are
the software that helps your computer system run your printer. Printer manufacturers
frequently update printer drivers to correct incompatibilities and add new features.
2. Make sure you are using Adobe Reader version 5.0 or higher.
Earlier versions of Reader may not print the PDF file properly.
I use Outlook/Outlook Express. When I open a Random Lengths e-mail with the
PDF attached, the PDF is not available
The following error message appears when e-mail is opened: "OE removed
access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail: FILENAME"
An update has been installed from Outlook version 5 to version 6, or from Internet
Explorer version 5 to version 6 (which also updated Outlook to version 6). There
is a default setting that is new to this version that will keep you from getting
most attachments. Look under TOOLS - OPTIONS. Go to the Security tab. Look under
the Virus Protection section. The option "Do not allow attachments to be
saved or opened that could potentially be a virus." is clicked ON. PDF
files are considered by Microsoft to be an attachment that could contain a virus.
The message does not mean that the program has detected a problem with the
file. It simply means it is restricting most attachments. There is no place
to edit a list of which attachments the user want to accept.
The only way for you to get our PDF file is to turn this option OFF.
